The Big Pencil to Big Walker Charity Ride (formerly the Big Walker Century Ride), is a fundraising bike ride through the country lanes and scenic byways of southwest Virginia.  The ride begins in downtown Wytheville at the iconic Wytheville Office Supply "Big Pencil" before heading out of town toward Big Walker Mountain.  The ride offers four recreational routes suitable for short and century riders.  Full century (100 miles-3 climbs), metric century (62 miles-2 climbs) and a 45-mile route (1 climb) are available as well as 30-mile fun ride (no climb) suitable for all ages.

Riders can also participate in the BWCR fundraising campaign.  If we meet our minimum online goal of $2,067 (the equivalent of the elevation gain of climbing Big Walker once), all participating fundraisers will be eligible for a drawing for a $200 gas card. If we raise $3,281 (the equivalent of the elevation gain of climbing the mountain twice), all fundraisers become eligible for a drawing for a $300 gas card. If we raise $5,003 (the equivalent of the elevation gain of climbing the mountain three times), all fundraisers become eligible for a drawing for a $500 gas card. Join the fun and help us too!

Proceeds benefit HOPE, an umbrella human services organization delivering housing and anti-poverty programs to the southwest Virginia counties of Wythe, Bland, Carroll, Smyth and Grayson and the city of Galax.  Click here to learn more about HOPE.
